ENDEMIK - is one of the first private medical establishments in Lithuania that was established after the restoration of independence; it started its operation in 1989. The company which was established under the initiative of Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine Research Laboratory employees was located in the facilities of the university for the first few years. UAB Endemik team was the first in Lithuania to discover and examine in various aspects the tick-transmitted tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme disease, as well as the disease caused by chlamydia (for these discoveries it was awarded the National Science Award of the Republic of Lithuania), therefore, during the initial phase of the company's activities its staff was in particular focused on those diseases. The range of services is constantly extended, but this tradition prevails.

The attached tick is removed with a special tool and examined for the possibility of being a disease vector; if necessary, a short course of preventive treatment is prescribed.
