Disease prevention - Influenza: It is very Serious!
In general, many Lithuanians believe that autumn is not a real autumn, if you don’t get a flu. This erroneous attitude is because of a number of minor complaints occurring during the cold season such as runny nose, sneezing, pain, larynx, minor headaches, slight rise in temperature, and other that are often mistakenly considered by people as flu. Certainty that is not influenza but the upper respiratory tract inflammatory disease caused by various bacteria and viruses. In most cases its causes are different adenoviruses. Influenza is a different illness which manifests with a sudden rise in temperature (usually high), chills, severe headache and muscle pain, joint pain, gnawing, sometimes tiresome dry cough. Often it is followed by nausea, insomnia, a person may be delirious, and even experience all body seizures. Runny nose and cough usually occur after two or three days. It is known that 10% of patients suffering from influenza have a severe form of it, and 2% of the latter die. In Europe every year more than a tenth of the population are infected by flu. In the United States, for example, each year from 10 to 40 thousand people die from influenza and its consequences, in Russia this number is about 2.5 thousand.
