ENDEMIK

ENDEMIK - is one of the first private medical establishments in Lithuania that was established after the restoration of independence; it started its operation in 1989. The company which was established under the initiative of Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine Research Laboratory employees was located in the facilities of the university for the first few years. ENDEMIK was established and headed for a few years by the chair of the mentioned laboratory, prof. dr. Leontijus Motiejūnas, laureate of the National Science Premium, member of New York Science Academy, who still provides the establishment with his consultations.

About us

Endemik is one of the first private medical institutions in Lithuania, established after the restoration of independence, which began operating in 1989. The company was established at the incentive of the employees of Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University, and for first few years operated in the facilities of the University. Endemik was founded and headed for the first few years by the chair of this laboratory, Habilitated Doctor of Medicine, Professor Leontijus Motiejūnas, Laureate of the National Science Award, member of the New York Academy of Sciences.

Endemik was founded in 1989 at the incentive of the employees of the scientific research laboratory of Vilnius University, Faculty of Medicine. In 1995, Endemik team was awarded the National Science Award of the Republic of Lithuania for the discovery of the tick-borne diseases: tick-borne encephalitis andLyme disease, as well as the disease caused by chlamydia.

The main Endemik facility is in Vilnius, Kareivių g. 9. Its branches are in Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai, Panevezys, Alytus and Taurage. The company employs about 100 people. Soon 2 more branches will be opened in other centres of the Lithuanian counties.

The company’s team was the first in Lithuania to discover and examine in various aspects the tick-transmitted tick-borne encephalitis and Lyme disease, as well as the disease caused by chlamydia (for these discoveries it was awarded the National Science Award of the Republic of Lithuania), therefore, in the initial phase of the company's activities were in particular focused on those diseases. The range of services is constantly extended, but this tradition prevails.
