Research - Information
UAB Endemik Disease Diagnostic Laboratory is one of the most advanced laboratories in Lithuania, which employs highly skilled personnel. UAB Endemik Disease Diagnostic Laboratory aims to continually develop and improve the process of laboratory-diagnostic tests and accuracy of the results. UAB Endemik was founded in 1989 at the incentive of the employees of the scientific research laboratory of Vilnius University, Faculty of Medicine. In 1995, UAB Endemik team was awarded the National Science Award of the Republic of Lithuania for the discovery of the tick-borne diseases: tick-borne encephalitis andLyme disease, as well as the disease caused by chlamydia. Already in 2001 they implemented the chemoluminescent method of analysis, allowing more accuracy in examining the hormone and cancer marker concentrations. In 2004, the Ministry of Health has provided, and in 2007 re-registered the Laboratory’s attestation certificate thus acknowledging the UAB Endemik as a specialized laboratory diagnostic of diseases of particularly high level. Since 2004, Disease Prevention Laboratory of UAB Endemik commenced operations under the approved Quality Manual, and in 2005 it developed and implemented a computerized patient examination record system – Endis. Since 2008, the bar code system was introduced for the registration of samples helping to avoid possible human error factor. It was the year of successful introduction and use of 5-differentiations of whole blood and biochemical methods, and acquiring new devices. Starting with 2006, UAB Endemik got actively involved in prevention programs funded by the State Patient Fund. In the beginning of 2007 the Laboratory implemented the modem and sensitive real-time PCR method and obtained the necessary apparatus, helping to detect infectious disease agents in the analysed material, in particular, even with small quantities of them present. UAB Endemik laboratory continually introduces new, proven techniques and technologies in order to keep patients and physicians satisfied with the provided services and to ensure the results of conducted analysis.
